About Us
The Canadian University Society for Intercollegiate Debate (CUSID) is the national organization which governs and represents university debating in Canada. CUSID’s membership consists of different debating unions across Canada. Established in 1978, the organization is subdivided into three regions: East, West and Central. CUSID hosts many annual tournaments such as the British Parliamentary Championships, the Canadian Parliamentary National Championships, and NAUDC which hosted alongside APDA, CUSID’s American counterpart.
Debate Format
CUSID uses two main styles of debate: British Parliamentary (also known as WUDC style) and Canadian Parliamentary. British Parliamentary is conventionally the style used in the Fall semester and Canadian Parliamentary is used in the Winter.
